  • Does the application of SDF arrest cavitated caries lesions as effectively as other treatment modalities? This course will help participants to learn about the most up to date evidence-based guidance on the use of 38 % silver diamine fluoride (SDF) for dental caries management in children, adolescents, and geriatric patients, including those with special health care needs. Participants will learn established clinical guidelines to use SDF, indications, and contraindications for the use of SDF, treatment planning, clinical applications, and coding for this procedure. Discussion on minimally invasive options will be discussed and how they can be integrated for the treatment of difficult to treat pediatric patients, patients with medical special health care needs and certain adult/geriatric patients. Participants will also learn about other minimally invasive techniques like interim restorative restorations, frequent applications of fluoride varnish and Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique (SMART).
