  • Full Title: Challenges and Treatment Modalities in Children with Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH): Lessons Learned

Are you frustrated dealing with hypoplastic first permanent molars or permanent incisors with Turner’s Hypoplasia? The treatment of these teeth can be challenging due to the varying anatomy of the affected surfaces, the extreme hypersensitivity present at times and the difficulty to manage these teeth in the young patient. This condition usually manifests as a portion of missing or diminished enamel, generally affecting one or more permanent teeth in the oral cavity. The ideal restorative treatment modality for these hypoplastic teeth should aim to restore lost and weakened tooth structure, alleviating sensitivity, and maintaining occlusion. The course will explore a mixture of some common and not so common dental treatment options of these challenging anatomically affected teeth.

    • - Present treatment modalities to help alleviate sensitivity of hypoplastic teeth
    • - Explore a mixture of dental treatment options for young hypoplastic teeth
    • - Compare different dental materials used for restoring hypoplastic teeth
    • - Examine the option of timely extractions for severely hypoplastic affected young teeth
    • - Identify behavior management techniques for patients with MIH
    • - Discuss pain control challenges in patients with MIH
