    Contemporary 3D Printing Practices in Dentistry


    In this course, a brief overview of additive manufacturing (3D Printing) will lead to a discussion of the many ways it has added to or changed the practice of dentistry. 3D-printed Dentures, crowns, nightguards, surgical guides, retainers, etc. will be discussed along with changes in printing technology and the available biomaterials. 



    • - Describe the differences between the predominate types of 3D-Printing used in dentistry
    • - Recognize the effects of each 3D printing technology on the printed item
    • - Understand the post-processing requirements for 3D-printed items
    • - Compare the Differences between 3D printed Dentures and Traditionally processed
    • - Identify current best practices within office 3D printing in dentistry 
    • - Implement 3D printing in their practice

    Speaker:

    Gregory Bennett, DMD: is an Associate Professor and Interim Department Chair of Adult Restorative Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry. He is originally from the West Coast and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 201O from the Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Dentistry and followed on with a General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. Dr. Bennett served in the US Navy as a Dental Corps officer for over 5 years with time spent in California, Mississippi, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Hawaii. Dr. Bennett left the Navy in 2015 and began teaching at the UNMC College of Dentistry and practicing in a technology focused private practice in Lincoln Nebraska. Dr Bennett performs research on dental technology with a focus on 3D printing.


    Moderator:

    Maritza Morell, DMD: is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active teacher, researcher, lecturer, and public health advocate for children's dental access issues. In addition, Dr. Morell is part of the faculty for the Pediatric Dentistry at the department of Developmental Biology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and a Junior Associate at the Children's Hospital Boston.
