  • Optimizing Esthetics in the Existing Dental Implant

Single dental implants have now been used in the esthetic zone for over thirty years. There exists a large cohort of patients with well-integrated dental implants who desire esthetic improvement of their restoration after decades of service. For some, implant removal may be the ideal treatment, but for many, expectations can be met with a detail-oriented approach to re-restoration of the existing fixture. The modern implant clinician must be adept at identification, retrieval, provisionalization, and complex interdisciplinary treatment planning for these patients with existing implants in the esthetic zone.

  • After successfully completing this course, attendees will be able to:

    • - Identify interdisciplinary treatment options to maximize esthetic success
    • - Describe reasonable timelines and expectations for single implant esthetic improvement in cases of previously placed implants
    • - Understand the limitations of periodontal plastic surgery in managing peri-implant soft tissue defects (PSTD)
