    The American Heart Association’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. The course reflects science and education from the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). Upon successful completion, participants will be issued an e-card from the American Heart Association as a BLS Provider. AHA cards are good for 2 years from date of the class.

  • After successfully completing this course, attendees will be able to:

    • - Demonstrate high-quality CPR and effective ventilation for adults, children, and infants in both single-rescuer and team-based solutions
    • - Apply the BLS Chain of Survival, including rapid recognition of emergencies and effective use of an AED
    • - Recognize and manage airway emergencies, including choking relief of adults, children, and infants while functioning effectively as a team member

  • Speaker:

    Richard Golden, BS, NRP, IC: is a seasoned EMS professional with 35 years of experience and is actively working as a paramedic. He brings 30 years of EMS teaching expertise and a 20-year career as a Firefighter/Paramedic, from which he is now retired. Richard is a certified instructor in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Handtevy, and currently serves as an Instructor Coordinator for the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services.

There are no refunds less than 10 days out including cancelations due to illness, late arrivals or weather. Full refund will be given if your class is cancelled for any reason by MDS. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing. There is no refund for courses once the course begins. Registrants will be notified by e-mail if the course is canceled due to inclement weather or for any other reason by MDS. The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address used to register.
