Women's Lunch Place
Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026
Time: 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
Location: 67 Newbury St, Boston, MA 01226
Women’s Lunch Place (WLP) inspires hope and supports the development of self-sustaining skills for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty.
Monday-Saturday, staff and volunteers provide nutritious meals, hygienic essentials, specialized one-on-one advocacy services, free medical care, and a variety of creative opportunities for personal and professional growth to over 2,200 women each year without judgment or requirements for assistance.
MDS members who volunteer will:
-Assist in prepping and cooking meals
-Help keep the kitchen clean and organized
-Retrieve and lift food supplies from the fridge or pantry
-Unpack, sort, and inspect deliveries
-Run dishwasher and put dishes/pots away
-Help prepare to-go boxes of meals
Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a shirt with sleeves (short sleeves are fine, no tank tops). Volunteers must also have their hair pulled back and wear a hat or hairnet. They are both on-site, but volunteers can also bring their own if they prefer. Masks are optional. Please refrain from wearing any bracelets, rings, or watches while working in the kitchen. There is also a closet where volunteers can leave their belongings.
Women's Lunch Place is located in the basement of the Church of the Covenant. The entrance is near the corner of Newbury and Berkeley Streets. You will see a WLP sign and stairs leading down to our entrance. When you arrive, let the staff know you are there to volunteer in the kitchen. They will show you the way!
Parking/MBTA:
Unfortunately, there are no designated parking spaces for WLP, so the options would be street parking or nearby garages. WLP is very close to the Arlington stop on the Green Line and the Back Bay stop on the Orange Line.
